Ingredients
- 2 large eggs
- ¼ cup milk (preferably whole or 2%)
- ⅛ teaspoon nutmeg
- 4 slices white bread (brioche or challah)
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 4 slices deli turkey
- 4 slices deli ham
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon powdered sugar (optional)
- 2 tablespoons strawberry jam (optional)
Instructions
- Whisk eggs, milk, nutmeg, and salt in a wide bowl.
- Spread mayo on 2 bread slices and mustard on the other 2. Place Swiss cheese on each slice. Layer mayo slices with 2 ham and 2 turkey slices. Form 2 sandwiches and compress gently.
- Melt butter in a skillet. Dip each sandwich in the egg mixture, coating both sides. Cook in the skillet until golden brown on both sides. Cover with foil to ensure cheese melts and egg mixture cooks through.
